New Articles Coming Soon

March 08, 2008

To my colleagues,
This is the 1st of many times I will post my thoughts on the President’s Page. I will try to update this page as much as possible. So come here as often as you want and see my latest and greatest thoughts.

First, I wanted to ask all of you to give me some time to settle in and get to work for you. There are a lot of things coming very soon that need to be addressed. I, as well as the E-Board, will work those issues first. There are other issues that will be worked out as we go. You will not be in the dark on any of them. It is my intent to keep you up to speed at all times.

We have an election to look at, especially for one of our Judges. I have heard of some recent decisions made in the Court that trouble me. We may look at where we go from here and whether we need to support Levota for that spot. For City Council, we intend to spend some money from our PAC on those candidates we support. If you are not in the PAC, get with Rick for more information on how to join.

Second, I want to sit down with the Chief soon and let him know I am here to work with him. I have known Joe for a lot of years, he’s been my boss for most of those. I can only speak highly of him and his leadership. He never treated me wrong and that’s all I can ask for from a boss. My intent is to work with him to solve any and all issues we bring to him. If we disagree, we will work to find the middle ground. I have no doubt we will do that and cannot foresee any issues with him like we had with previous administrations.

Finally, there a lot of you that are no longer members of the POA, having got out for your own reasons. I am here to ask you to come back to the POA. Give us a year and see how we can work to help the POA grow. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

We got a lot of work ahead of us and I intend to get busy. We are going to go in a new direction and I ask for your patience. Joel Osteen talks of how small the rearview mirror is and how big the windshield is on a car. He says that shows how it’s more important to look forward as compared to look at what’s behind us. Let’s look to the future of the LSPD and forget what is behind us. I pray for all of you to be safe!

Stay Safe
