From the Constitution of the LSPOA |
We, the Law Enforcement Officers of the
City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, who are members of the Fraternal Order of
Police, do hereby pledge ourselves to the use of all honorable means to:
promote police legislation; promote professionalism and fraternalism among
our members; promote and foster the impartial enforcement of law and order;
encourage sociable, charitable, and educational activities among Lee’s
Summit Police Officers; to support and defend the laws of the City of Lee’s
Summit and the Constitution of the Sovereign State of Missouri and to
support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; promote
a professional relationship between Lee’s Summit Police Officers and the
governing authorities of the City of Lee’s Summit; provide benefit and
assistance to our members; and promote a healthy relationship between the
community we serve and our membership. Further, we hereby unite under the
name of Lee’s Summit Police Officer’s Association, a chapter of Lodge #50 of
the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police.
We affirm that membership in this
organization is not in any way contingent upon race, sex, color, creed, age,
religion, ancestry, national origin, handicap or disability. All terms used
in this Constitution and the By-Laws of this Association that denote gender
shall be generic, and where appropriate, the singular shall include the
plural and the plural shall include the singular.

Article I
Name |

Section 1 |
This
organization shall be known as the Lee’s Summit Police Officer’s
Association. |
Section 2 |
The Lee’s
Summit Police Officer’s Association, as a part of the West
Central Missouri Regional Lodge #50, Fraternal Order of Police shall
conform with all of the rules and regulations of that lodge and its’
parent
organizations. |
Section 3 |
The right to
authorize control and restrict the use of the name and insignia
of the L.S.P.O.A. shall lie exclusively with the Board of Directors of
this
association. |

Article II
Chapter Purpose |

Section 1 |
This organization is formed for the purpose
of bettering existing conditions of police by solidifying their strength
and promoting their mutual welfare through our affiliation with the
Fraternal Order of Police and for advancing social, benevolent,
charitable and educational undertakings of and among all Law Enforcement
Officers. |
Section 2 |
It shall be the duty of this organization to
promote the interests of the Law Enforcement Officers of the City of
Lee’s Summit by active participation in the West Central Missouri
Regional Lodge #50, Fraternal Order of Police; and strive to further
professional law enforcement and to encourage greater public support of
police officers in the performance of their duties. |
Section 3 |
This organization shall endeavor to provide
its’ members with professional, educational, and social benefits of a
relevant nature whenever it is able to do so and strive to adopt
community service programs to improve the relationship between law
enforcement and the community. |
Section 4 |
Character - The L.S.P.O.A. shall NOT strike or in
concerted action cause a cessation of the performance of police duties
or induce other members to do likewise. To do so would harm the
public we serve and their trust in us. |
