The Lee’s Summit Police Officer’s Association is committed to trying to help our citizens in every way possible.  We strive to do this, not only through good police work, but though good stewardship in our community.

Every year the Lee’s Summit Police Officer’s Association participates in the “Shop with a cop…” program.

This is a program that is designed to help the children in our communities (and their families) that might not otherwise be able to fully enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.

Every year approximately 10-15 kids are chosen from the lee's Summit area.  Officers pick the kids of from school and it's off to the stores.  The kids shop fast and furious but at times it's hard for them to spend the money they're given, sometimes they even seem overwhelmed.   But in the end they get right into the swing of buying presents for themselves and their families.

After they are done shopping it's off to the Police Station for pictures with Santa and present wrapping.  Once all the presents were wrapped the officers we eat pizza together and then usually the kids are surprised by a visit from a Chief's player.  After handing out the stockings and other prizes the officers drive the kids back home.

These types of programs truly help you remember the meaning of giving and the holiday season.

All involved have a wonderful time.  Great thanks go to all those officers, department employees, and citizens who make this event possible by donating their time and energy.

Thanks are also in order to all those organizations and businesses that kindly donated time and funding to help make this holiday a bright one for these children.

Here are some of our fond memories from this event…
